I am writing this testimonial of my own volition to recommend Mr Colin Irving as a Sailing Instructor. Colin is a very pleasant, polite and amiable person who very quickly understands his students and their learning skills. He is good company to be with and very patient. I asked Colin to mentor and instruct me on my own boat after I had completed the Competent Crew Course. My Aim was to gain some sailing experience at the helm of my boat whilst having a mentor and coach to provide safety and assist with my development as a sailor. Colin fulfilled my requirements perfectly and surpassed my expectations of a sailing coach. He allowed me to sail the boat whilst advising on areas for improvement and still allowing me to enjoy the sailing and learning experience. I learned more in 48 Hours with Colin than on several days previous sailing with friends. Colin is without doubt an excellent sailor and instructor and I felt better for being coached by him. I will be asking Colin to coach me in the future and would recommend him to any level of sailor without reservation.

Colin is a fantastic sailor and a better instructor. He has that rare ability of not only being a great sailor but he’s also able to explain how you can do it! After a week doing my Day Skipper with him my sailing had changed so much for the better. My confidence was sky high and I had really caught the sailing bug. He’s patient, enthusiastic and has a great sense of humor. I’m really looking forward to my next sailing session with Colin. With the skills Colin has taught me I have just finished my first bareboat charter in Greece with my family. I couldn’t have done it without him.

"I can honestly say I had the best sailing experience ever the week I was with Colin. I was lucky enough to have him instruct me for my RYA Day Skipper and ICC Sail. It was a freezing cold week in November and after 10 years spent living in the Caribbean it was a big shock for me! Colin was patent and clear in all his teaching methods and was not at all ruffled when I would say "No sorry, I don't get it", he would find another way to ex-plane to be sure that I understood why and how everything did what it did. I felt safe and secure with Colin and had by confidence puffed up by piloting and then later helming threw the notorious swellies with the keel of "Pride of Conway" un harmed!
Colin was not all work and no play, we had many good laughs during the week and were all a great team once we left and have all kept in touch after our adventure.
